How to Find the Right Therapist?

It can sometimes be difficult to choose the right therapist, there are various specialties, treatments, and licensures.  Here are a few key points to consider when looking for a therapist.

1. Licensing

If a therapist is not licensed, it means they may not hold the required level of education and experience to be a safe and ethical resource.

2. Experience

In some cases, therapist might state they have experience in a specific area without the appropriate training.

3.  Treatment

There are many forms of therapy treatment some which work better than others depending on your therapy goals. Therapists are been trained in various techniques, but not all therapist are trained in all techniques.

4. Ask

A relationship between you and a therapist is an important one. You have the right to ask questions about experience, schooling,licensing, and anything else pertinent to your treatment. As a client, you have the right to be respected, listened to by the therapist, and have your individual goals honored. Therapy is not a one size fits all. It’s common to want to speak few therapists before making a final decision.
